What Affects the Cost
- Severity of the problem — a sensor swap vs. a full rebuild is vastly different
- Vehicle make — BMW and Mercedes engines cost more to repair than common models
- Engine configuration — V6/V8 engines are more complex and labour-intensive
- Parts availability in Zimbabwe — some parts must be imported, adding cost and time
- Whether the cylinder head or block needs machining at an engineering shop
- Additional damage discovered during teardown (common with overheating damage)
Labour vs Parts
Labour
Engine labour is intensive — a full rebuild can take 3–5 days. Labour accounts for 40–50% of major engine work. Our technicians are experienced and efficient, which actually saves you money.
Parts
Engine parts vary enormously. A gasket set might be $50, while a set of pistons could be $500+. We source quality parts from multiple suppliers to give you the best value without compromising reliability.
